St Goar Day 2

Following a traditional German breakfast of mutilated deer antlers with a dill sauce the group catch a train to Oberwesel and enjoy a leisurely Rhineside walk back to the Schloss. Then there is a guided tour of the less salubrious aspects of the castle with more Germanic obsessing on the excretory aspects of human behaviour.

Having cajoled a taxi driver the previous day to take us to Munich airport ,we are on our way at 8am to meet Claire and Eric. Following the father and daughter and daughter's CP reunion we jump into our rental vehicle-thank God I booked so far ahead, so the whole process only took 2 hours and they still didn't have the car I ordered-Europcar lift your game! Then the road trip to Berchtesgaden to visit the salt mines. In true German fashion we are forced to put on ridiculous fancy dress in order to be humiliated and then it is off for the magical mystery tour involving train rides and giant slippery dips Don't even ask and boat trips across clear lakes. Just Jew It

Following coffee at the Melbourne(sic) Coffee Bar(3/10)-they couldn't even do a magic! we visit the central food market to peruse the various food delights that Hungary has to offer. Breakfast consists of goulash in a roll with various bits and pieces. At 4pm we meet our guide,Greta, for our Budapest Jew Tour. Unfortunately we are interrupted by a flash flood and have to spend some time BS (between synagogues) in a bar. Eventually we arrive sodden at our dinner at Rachel's house. It turns out that Rachel is the Jamie Oliver of Budapest and is also famous for her cake decorating skills and her very famous flodni a sort of sweet lasagne cake. She also is the daughter of a very famous Budapest rabbi. The meal and wine are scrumptious and the company is delightful. The Tour de Budapest

Today we cycle to Szentendre along the Danube-we know this will be a tough ride when we are shown the profile of the ride. Our cycling companions seem somewhat competitive. Anyway we decide to enjoy the day out. Szentendre is a quiet little town and apart from the 70,000 tourists is quite deserted. We lunch on Langos which is a sort of fucked up Hungarian version of pizza-pretty good actually. Then it is back by boat to Budapest and dinner with some of our new found companions.
