Excessive Use Of Rhining Slang

Today is billed as the toughest walk of our Tour De Rhine so we tuck into a very traditional German breakfast of seared squirrel gallbladders with thousand island dressing.
We don our walking apparel and it is down to our ferryto recross the Rhine followed by the inevitable walk up near vertical hills followed by treacherous descents. We have fortified ourselves with various delicacies from the breakfast buffet.

Maus Castle






Eventually we arrive at our next castle where we are allocated the former punishment cell(with the view option).
The caretaker notes we can either have us in the room or our luggage. Other rooms in the castle are somewhat more comfortable.
Dinner in the castle is helped along by copious draughts of teutonic ales and wines

The Tour de Budapest

Today we cycle to Szentendre along the Danube-we know this will be a tough ride when we are shown the profile of the ride. Our cycling companions seem somewhat competitive. Anyway we decide to enjoy the day out. Szentendre is a quiet little town and apart from the 70,000 tourists is quite deserted. We lunch on Langos which is a sort of fucked up Hungarian version of pizza-pretty good actually. Then it is back by boat to Budapest and dinner with some of our new found companions.

Sound of Music revisited but then its all downhill

Heiko shows us his collection of strangled cats before preparing a luscious breakfast of toenail stew on toast. We then head into Salzburg to pay our tribute to Julie Andrews and all the little Trapdoors. We dress up for the reenactement-that's me on the far right, Eric is centre stage Frank, Claire,Robyn and Eric Schnitzel overload We are then off to Durrnberg in order to experience the 2.2km bobsled run. Despite my pleas to walk to the top the lazy sods decide to chairlift it. At the top is a schnitzel house and why not? Grostl Then it is off to the bobsled run for our hare raising trip down at breakneck speeds. Unfortunately we are preceded by a group of dopey teenage girls who use the brakes excessively and we are reduced to a snail's pace much to the chagrin of the hoon element in our group. Then it is off to Munich airport and a tearful farewell to Claire and Eric and a midnight dash to Budapest. At Budape...
